Today is certainly a sad day … . I was a fellow student at the Hornsey College of Art, and James was in the same group as me at the annexe in Bowes Road where we studied Graphic Design.I have very fond memories of those days and we worked on many projects together. When we left college to start our careers you loose touch with your fellow students but i certainly admired James gift of artist and writer what a wonderful life he had and such talent R.i.P James and God bless you Rob.

Devastated to hear this news! :-( I’ve grown up with your outstanding work as I got hooked on your books at the tender age of 12, thanks to my old PE teacher reading ‘The Rats’ to us in the English lesson that he was standing in for and I’ve never looked back….thank you for being off sick that day, Miss whatever your name was! We’ve shared many a late night together and in your memory, I will continue to do so in the future! Thank you for opening my eyes to the world of horror, my sincerest condolences to your family and friends at this very sad time! and RIP Jim x

I can only reiterate what has been said by so many.
Youe death will certainly leave a massive hole in many, many lives.
As an adolescent,I started reading your books with the only problem being,I couldn’t put them down once started!
My daughter found the same interest, and also my granddaughter, three generations of James Herbert readers.
God bless you James, for giving so many people,so much pleasure.
    R.I.P

    R.I.P Jim,
Sad news indeed, it’s a shame I’ll never again feel the excitement of a new book being released – rushing to buy it and be thrilled to be reading it.
Thanks for the scares and thanks for the memories.
