Shrine is a masterful study into innocence corrupted. Alice, the girl who experiences visions of the Immaculate Conception becomes at once a creature to be feared and a child to be pitied. From Alice's first vision, very few realise the looming evil growing over the village. Only the village priest, Father Hagan realises, but the evil soon overwhelms and destroys him. Research into the history of the church and of the oak tree reveal a legacy of corrupt priest and an inholy nun stretching back to the middle ages. Only innocence can end this chain of evil.
